
Gbarnga, Bong County, October 11, 2025 – The Development Education Network-Liberia DEN-L), in partnership with Saolta and Development Perspectives under the Global Citizenship Education (GCE) Initiative, has officially launched the 2025 International Exchange Program in Gbarnga, Bong County. The ten-day program aims to promote mutual learning and global collaboration between development practitioners from Liberia and Ireland through shared experiences, cultural exchange, and joint reflection on sustainable community development. Speaking at the launch, Mr. Peter S. Dolo, Executive Director of DEN-L, described the exchange as a dynamic platform for sharing best practices, addressing development challenges, and exploring innovative community-driven solutions. He highlighted that the initiative, which began in 2008, continues to strengthen cooperation and understanding between Liberia and Ireland. This year’s activities include visits to the University of Liberia, Cuttington University, Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS), and the Irish Embassy in Monrovia, among others. Bong County Superintendent Madam Loleyah Hawa Norris expressed gratitude to the Irish partners for their long-standing collaboration with Liberia, particularly in the education, health, and security sectors. The exchange program is being held under the theme: “Making Space for and Strengthening Critical Global, Justice, Peace and Equality Dimensions in GCE and ACE Practice.” The launch was attended by a range of stakeholders, including Assistant Commissioner of Police for Bong County, Mr. Fasu Sheriff; Mr. Alex Mulbah of the Gbarnga City Corporation; former DEN-L Director, Mr. Franklin O. Siakor; members of the DEN-L Board of Directors; and other community leaders.
The Irish delegation will spend ten days in Liberia participating in learning sessions, cultural activities, and institutional visits before returning to Ireland.
